Currently on the drawing board for our new regional venues, The Limelight Programme
is an 8 month programme for performing arts delivered in 3 workshop / performance modules.
Each workshop is run on a varied part-time schedule over the course of 3 months. The resulting cabaret show, "Cabaret Limelight", is then staged for a short performance season.
The Cabaret Limelight events are dinner cabaret style for 200 - 250 px, utilising a "normal" stage and a smaller performance area at close quarters with the audience.
The Limelight Programme is based on similar developmental projects we've been running successfully in our regional venues since 2007, which have culminated in over 30 entertaiment events featuring performing arts talents, and which are still going strong.
These workshops and events are NOT A COMPETITION.
Potential participants must audition, but beyond successful acceptance into the programme, there are no elimination rounds, judging, or competition between participants. All emphasis is on participants working together, in support of each other, to create a fabulous show.
To provide developmental opportunities for people with performance and related talents in a relatively short, intense and performance-focused programme
To support performers in showcasing their abilities and to provide a framework that facilitates experiment and development
To encourage and facilitate co-operation and mutual support among performers, (as so much of performance development has become competition based).
To demonstrate and actively involve performers in the creation of successful entertainment events, (success being defined by the audience enjoyment of the event as a whole), thus empowering them to create effective opportunities for themselves
More news on this exciting project will be here soon. In the meantime, if you'd like to talk to VMS Live about performing arts development projects for your venue, or as a part of a local Council initiative, please do get in touch to discuss the possibilities.
